Involvement Fair

Involvement Fair

At the involvement fair I signed up for the Equestrian Club. There is a meeting on Monday, September 2nd, and there I will learn a lot more about the club. The team rides out of the barn “High Standard Stables” in Wells, Maine.I believe they are apart of the IHJA (I’m not one hundred percent sure if that is correct) but every team has a maximum of five rides and they try to qualify for the finals. The six shows they have are at The University of Vermont, Middlebury, two are at  Dartmouth, University of New Hampshire, and Northeastern. I rode with a team like this in highschool. The schools and barns that you travel to provide the horses for you and you get a randomly selected horse that you show.

I also signed up for an Elementary club. I believe they go around Biddeford working with children and local schools. There is a meeting on Tuesday evening to find out more information, but since I have no idea what I want to major in and I am taking a teaching elective this semester, and I love kids, I thought that this would be a good club for me.

I also signed up for a Beach Cleaning club. Last year they organized one of the biggest beach clean ups in the state of Maine. They said they have two beach clean ups a year. I am really excited about this club because I feel very strongly about saving the planet and I think that we, as a generation, rely too much on single use plastic and other objects that make our lives ‘easier.’ I think it is really good to give back to our planet and our community.
