EDU 387 Artifact 2

Standard 7: The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills, and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.

For this standard I chose my author studies. These assignments required us to reach books or poems by authors, and then we got a chance to interview these authors. The reason I chose these was because we learned many different skills and strategies from real authors that we can use when we are teachers in the future. Standard 7 says ‘teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas,’ and by using the knowledge that I got from these interviews I now feel as though I could confidently make writing fun and provide many different strategies and ways for students to get interested in writing and find their preferred writing style.

This will help me when I become a future teacher because I can use my knowledge of instructional strategies to create fun and engaging lesson plans. Writing isn’t for everyone, and not every student will love it but creating ways for students to really grasp the content and teach writing in non traditional ways, I’ll be able to reach every student and help them find their preferred writing style. I can also provide skills and strategies for students to use when writing for assignments in schools, probably in formats they wouldn’t chose to write in. Every author provided different ideas, advice, and skills they use, had used or seen be used and all of them reached someone. Not every student will learn or like writing in the same way but now I have knowledge of ways to adapt and differentiate writing lessons.
