Learning Outcome 5: Document Work (MLA)

Above is my Works Cited page from my last project. At first, and throughout high school I used easy bib, or noodle tools for all of my citations. I never really knew how to cite sources, and I just looked them up. This semester Professor Cripps had us use our Little Seagull books to work on citations and they gave us specific examples on many different source citations and now I feel more confident. I also correctly know how to cite quotes in papers. For in text citations my teachers in high school and middle school were super strict about having correct in text citations. They would really hurt your grade if you did not have it cited correctly. We spent a lot of time doing this in high school.

Single Word: To a new student learning about citizenship might not seem like the overall goal, but it is actually very important and everyday you learn new skills that will help you participate in your community.

Embedded: These courses “gives students the opportunity to reflect on their previous years of study in the light of their duties and responsibilities as members of a larger society. They direct the student’s attention both outward with a civic contribution and inward with reflection”(UNE).

Parenthetical Citation:  “Citizenship, first of all, isn’t just a political notion in the ordinary sense. Like the term liberal arts, it’s more comprehensive and systematic: a social ecology involving a range of activities symbiotic with democratic communities. One is the traditional civic dimension, which embraces a range of activities such as voting… and other forms of participation in the public sphere … A second dimension is economic citizenship, which means being a productive member of a community … doing something useful for oneself and for others … A third kind of citizenship (and the particular focus of the humanities) is cultural citizenship… This is arguably the most family-friendly of the three”(Scheuer).
