Standard 4:
The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline(s) he or she teaches and creates learning experiences that make these aspects of the discipline accessible and meaningful for learners to assure mastery of the content.
Artifact 1
The artifact I chose was our class book website (my page). Standard four says the teacher understands the central concepts, I think this website is a good example of that because it shows that the books in the library aren’t just for fun or to keep the kids interested, they offer stories and plots that students can relate too. Another part of the standard says that these are meaningful for learners, books can be really meaningful to students if you can pick the right ones, and to assure mastery of the content. I think in this example mastery of the content means that they are comfortable explaining, talking, or just listening to everyone talk about their home lives, where they are from, what they like etc.. It really forces an inclusive classroom which is really important for all students, not just a select few.
