Learning Outcome 2: Integrating Ideas

I was not very good at making connections. I kind of tried to avoid making any connections to myself or the other texts and this made my paper really short. The text book that we used for English Composition 110 taught us how to make connections. They gave us basic sentences with fill in the blanks for us to use our own ideas. It also taught us how to challenge the articles. Instead of just stating the facts and ideas of the article I learned how to challenge them and say if I think they are wrong or try to prove them wrong. It was difficult at first but I think I got the hang of it. I also had to learn how to connect the texts to outside facts or other ideas, using knowledge or articles we’ve previously read. By connecting them to other quotes we had to learn how to embed quotes. Usually you would type a full sentence and then the next sentence would be a quote, but the book shows us how to use quotes half way through our sentences, how to cite them, and how to use block quotes, which I gave an example of on a different page.

Below is an example of one of the connections I made throughout my paper. I think it is a good example of connecting the two papers. I have a quote from Ungar and one from Scheuer, which I use to support my claim but the evidence is from two different articles.
